APC Lagos4Lagos Structure in Alimosho Defects to ADC, Declares Total Support for Aregbesola-Led Coalition.

In what political observers have described as a significant boost to the growing coalition of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Lagos State, leaders and members of the APC Lagos4Lagos movement across the eleven wards of Alimosho Local Government formally defected to the ADC on Monday during a high-level stakeholders' meeting held at Havanah Hotels and Suites, Egbeda.

The well-attended reception marked another milestone in the ongoing political realignment ahead of the forthcoming general elections, as the defectors pledged their total commitment to the ADC and its candidates across Alimosho, Lagos State and the national level.

The former APC Lagos4Lagos members were officially received on behalf of the National Secretary of the ADC, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola, by Comrade Ishola Olateju Adunni, Principal Personal Assistant to the former Minister of Interior.

The meeting also witnessed the presence of the ADC candidate for Alimosho Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Ojogbon Gideon Adeniran, while the party's candidate for Alimosho Federal Constituency, Hon. Mrs. Arike Olushola, was represented by Hon. Alli Shitta. Also in attendance was Amb. Ibrahim Olawale Seriki, Chief of Staff to the Lagos State ADC Youth Leader, representing the State Youth Leader, Comrade Oretoluwa Olanrewaju, alongside other party leaders and stakeholders.

Warm Reception for New Entrants

Speaking on behalf of the ADC National Secretary, Comrade Ishola Olateju Adunni warmly welcomed the defectors into the party, describing their decision as a courageous and patriotic step towards rescuing Nigeria from what he termed years of poor governance under the ruling APC.

He expressed appreciation for the conviction, sacrifice and political maturity demonstrated by the former Lagos4Lagos members, assuring them that the ADC remains committed to building an inclusive political platform where integrity, accountability and service to the people would remain paramount.

According to him, the influx of experienced grassroots mobilizers into the ADC would further strengthen the party's structures across Alimosho and Lagos State.

Defectors Raise Concerns Over Financial Accountability.

Speaking on behalf of the defecting leaders, representatives of the Lagos4Lagos movement commended Ogbeni Aregbesola for his unwavering commitment to repositioning Nigeria through purposeful leadership and principled politics.

The defectors, however, appealed to the leadership of the ADC to remain vigilant regarding the management of campaign and election funds.

They expressed concerns over what they described as the alleged misappropriation of campaign resources by some former PDP members who had earlier joined the ADC coalition.

According to them, such practices have continued to undermine political organizations and erode public confidence.

They urged the party leadership to ensure that individuals with questionable records or fraudulent tendencies are not entrusted with financial responsibilities during future campaigns.

The leaders maintained that transparency, accountability and prudent management of party resources would be critical to the ADC's electoral success.

Total Commitment to ADC Candidates.

The former APC Lagos4Lagos members used the occasion to publicly declare their unwavering support for all ADC candidates in Alimosho and beyond.

Specifically, they endorsed Hon. Ojogbon Gideon Adeniran as the party's candidate for Alimosho Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mrs. Arike Olushola as the ADC candidate for Alimosho Federal Constituency, and Hon. Bankole as the party's candidate for Alimosho Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

They pledged to deploy their extensive grassroots structures and political networks across the eleven wards of Alimosho Local Government Area to mobilize support for all ADC candidates during the forthcoming elections.

The leaders stressed that their movement into the ADC was collective and strategic, assuring the party that thousands of loyal Lagos4Lagos supporters would subsequently join the coalition.

Political Background of the Defectors.

The defecting members were loyalists of Hon. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (Jandor), founder of the Lagos4Lagos movement and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the 2023 Lagos State Governorship Election.

Following the 2023 elections, Jandor returned to the APC in pursuit of his governorship ambition but was unsuccessful in securing the party's ticket, a development that left many members of the Lagos4Lagos political family searching for a new political direction.

The leaders explained that after extensive consultations across the eleven wards of Alimosho, they resolved that the ADC presented the most credible platform capable of delivering genuine democratic governance and people-oriented leadership.

Aregbesola Assures Defectors of Inclusion.

Responding on behalf of the National Secretary, Comrade Ishola Olateju Adunni conveyed Ogbeni Aregbesola's appreciation to the new entrants, assuring them that their contributions would receive due recognition within the party.

He noted that the timing of their defection was strategic and would significantly enhance the ADC's electoral strength in Alimosho and Lagos State.

He further assured the gathering that the party would not entrust campaign finances to persons whose integrity could not withstand public scrutiny.

According to him, accountability, transparency and discipline remain fundamental principles guiding the leadership style of Ogbeni Aregbesola.

Ojogbon Unveils People-Centred Legislative Vision.

In his remarks, the ADC candidate for Alimosho Constituency I, Hon. Ojogbon Gideon Adeniran, expressed appreciation to the defectors for identifying with the ADC at a crucial period in Nigeria's democratic journey.

He assured them that the party remained open to all progressive-minded individuals and groups committed to rebuilding society.

Ojogbon stated that his legislative agenda would be firmly rooted in the developmental philosophy and administrative achievements of Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola.

According to him, if elected into the Lagos State House of Assembly, he would pursue legislation aimed at improving education, expanding technological advancement opportunities for young people and promoting social welfare initiatives across the constituency.

He also announced plans to appoint Legislative Aides across all seven wards that make up Alimosho Constituency I.

According to him, the initiative would ensure effective representation, bring governance closer to the grassroots and establish a direct communication channel between the people and their elected representative.

He maintained that responsive representation, youth empowerment, educational development and people's welfare would remain the pillars of his legislative service.

Productive Hope Ahead of Elections.

The meeting concluded on a highly optimistic note as the defectors expressed satisfaction with the assurances received from the ADC leadership.

They described the deliberations as encouraging and reaffirmed their confidence that they had made the right political decision.

The leaders reiterated their commitment to mobilizing members across all eleven wards of Alimosho Local Government Area, expressing optimism that the ADC would record a resounding victory in the forthcoming elections.

However it was concluded that the official ceremonial welcoming of thousands of members of the group will be announced soon.

Political analysts believe the latest wave of defections further strengthens the growing momentum of the ADC coalition in Lagos State and underscores the increasing realignment within the state's political landscape as preparations intensify for the next electoral cycle.
