NOTIFICATION OF NAPS NATION-WIDE PROTEST AND INDUSTRIAL ACTION BY POLYTECHNICS STUDENT'S OVER THE REFUSAL OF MR. PRESIDENT TO SIGN INTO LAW, THE BILL FOR ABOLISHMENT OF HND/B.Sc DICHOTOMY.

 His Excellency

Muhammadu Buhari GCOFR,

President,

Federal Republic of Nigeria,

Presidential Villa, Aso Rock,

Abuja.

THROUGH;

Secretary to the Government of Federation.

   Dear Sir,

NOTIFICATION OF NAPS NATION-WIDE PROTEST AND INDUSTRIAL ACTION BY POLYTECHNICS STUDENT'S OVER THE REFUSAL OF MR. PRESIDENT TO SIGN INTO LAW, THE BILL FOR ABOLISHMENT OF HND/B.Sc DICHOTOMY.

PROTOCOL....

National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) is the umbrella body for Polytechnics, Monotechnics, Colleges of Agriculture, Colleges of Health Technology, Colleges of Technical and other allied institutions awarding National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) cut across the six (6) geopolitical zones of the federation. NAPS is the second largest student movement in Africa with membership strength of over 21.8 million armless battalion students schooling both at home and in diaspora.

Sequel to above subject matter, it is not new that after several attempts by well meaningful stakeholders in Polytechnics and Colleges sector to ensure total abolishment of long aged dichotomy between HND/B.Sc holders in Educational system and carrier progression, which has actually yielded some positive result, pushing from passage of this bill by National Assembly from 1st to 3rd reading, and finally pushed to Mr. President table for final assent.

A huge sacrifice, consultation and consolidation were made from previous administration down to current administration of NAPS to ensure that, the aged dichotomy is totally abolish, before President Muhammadu Buhari administration elapse.

It is of no doubt that NAPS and other stakeholders in Polytechnics has exercise maximum patient, hoping the needful will be done and Justice will be served to our yearning and aspirantion over this dichotomy.

During the Public hearing by the Senate then, we made paper presentation for the National Assembly to see more reasons why this dichotomy should be abolish,  to save Polytechnic Education at verge of collapsing and to stop treating Polytechnic Student's as second class citizens.

With the best of our understanding, we practically knew that, if this bill was not sign into law by President Muhammadu Buhari led administration, all efforts invested will be futile and the bill will have to start newly under the incoming administration.

In lieu of this, the Leadership of Nigerian Polytechnic Student's, after intensive deliberation and proper consultation, has resolved to direct all Polytechnics and Colleges Nation-wide to commence industrial action and protest shall also commence, if our demand was not met within the period of ultimatum, or the President should announce with immediate effect, the conversion of all Higher National Diploma (HND) Institutions to degree awarding institutions, so that all Nigerian students can have neutral playing ground, without discrimination.

In conclusion, if this bill was not assented to by Mr. President, before the ultimatum day, we shall be left with no option than to stop all HND awarding institutions and their Student's from receiving lectures across the Federal and Nation-wide Protest shall commence immediately.

NB: The ultimatum start from 24th April to 7th May, 2023.

Aluta Continua! Victoria Ascerta!!

Nothing Shall Discourage us....
