June 12 Democracy Day: COPPYSM Preaches Unity In Diversity As A Tool For National Development

The Coalition of Political Parties, Youths, and Students' Movement (COPPYSM) is a political coalition that brings together various political parties, youth organizations, and student groups to advocate for democratic values, good governance, and the interests of young people in Nigeria's political landscape.


"Fellow Nigerians,


Today, we celebrate our nation's Democracy Day, a testament to our collective struggle for freedom, democracy, and human rights. We stand on the shoulders of giants who fought for our independence and democracy.

Speaking with the National Director General, Amb. Ibrahim Olawale Seriki in Lagos at the early hour of The Nigeria Democracy Day Celebration; he said: 

"As the Coalition of Political Parties, Youths, and Students' Movement (COPPYSM), we recognize that our democracy is not just a form of government, but a way of life that transcends borders, generations, ideologies, and even humanity itself. We acknowledge the progress made by the current leadership led by H.E Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, but also recognize the challenges that lie ahead as a country. 

The political games ended in 2023. Thus, the beginning of patriotism and nationalism. Going forward, we must collectively decide to protect our Sovereign State in the democratic dispensation. As a people, we must constructively condemn the government by supporting any incumbent government with sustainable ideas. It doesn't matter which tribe, who or what your party looks like. What matters is our Nation, Nigeria. 

Though, our tongue and tribe may differ but in unison, we must thrive to explore success.

We call on all Nigerians, regardless of political affiliation, ethnicity, religion, or socio-economic status, to join this great Nation in her quest for:

- A just and equitable society that values human dignity, rights, well-being, and fulfillment

- Economic opportunities and prosperity that benefits all and promotes sustainable development, poverty eradication, and hunger elimination

- Quality education and healthcare that prepares us for the future, fosters human flourishing, and promotes scientific discovery and innovation

- Security and peace that fosters national unity, global cooperation, collective security, and peaceful coexistence among all nations and peoples

- Environmental sustainability that preserves our planet for future generations, promotes eco-friendly development, and protects the natural world

- Gender equality and social justice that empowers all individuals, promotes human rights, and celebrates our diversity"


We also recognize Nigeria's role in the global community and commit to working with international partners to promote democracy, peace, sustainable development, human rights, and collective prosperity worldwide. We stand in solidarity with all nations, peoples, and cultures who share our values and aspirations.


Furthermore, we acknowledge our place in the universe and our responsibility to the future of our planet and the cosmos. We commit to exploring the frontiers of space, promoting scientific discovery, and harnessing technology to improve the human condition.


Let us work together to build a Nigeria that is a beacon of hope and democracy for Africa and the world, a shining example of what can be achieved when we work together towards a common goal, and a shining star in the global firmament of nations.
