Breaking: Alimosho Youths Assembly reacts to LG Chairman Indefinite Suspension.

As the highest body of Alimosho youths, our stance is however not driven by political affiliation but by an unwavering commitment to fostering good governance and leadership development in Alimosho, Nigeria's most populous local government area.


The provisional insight provided by the State Assembly reveals a disturbing pattern of misconduct by Jelili, including:


- Non-compliance with directives from the Lagos State House of Assembly

- Mismanagement of public funds

- Disregard for procurement processes

Most alarmingly, the pandemonium that broke out in April 2024, resulting in the tragic death of Micheal Ajayi, was linked to Jelili's actions.


Jelili was previously suspended in May 2021 for similar infractions. Unfortunately, his reinstatement did not bring about the desired change.


 Our Stand:

Haven given Jelili the privileges to fair hearing by the State Assembly which he out of his willing and unruly nonchalance refused severally to appear before the Lagos State Assembly, speaks in volume. 

The Alimosho Youths Assembly, AYA, representing the vibrant and diverse youth population of Alimosho Local Government Area, wholeheartedly supports the Lagos State House of Assembly's decision to suspend Jelili Sulaimon, Chairman of Alimosho Local Government Area, indefinitely. 


Hon. Amb. Ibrahim Olawale Seriki,  Honorable Speaker, Alimosho Youths Assembly while speaking with journalist further states; 

as constitution empowers the Vice Chairman to take charge. It's however, unlawful and disgraceful for the Alimosho councilors (in their fractions) to reject the decision of the State Assembly. 


On behalf of the armless youth battalion in Alimosho, we hereby pass a vote of confidence on Acting Chairman Hon. Akinpelu Johnson, who is expected to demonstrate a commitment to transparency, accountability, and responsible governance.

To reaffirm our non-affiliation to politics in this matter, it is very imperative we declare that, if the acting chairman fails to perform, we, as the youth assembly of Alimosho, will not hesitate to request for redress. We believe it is high time we reformed the potential value of our local government. Our commitment is to the people, not to any individual or party.


Our Key Areas of Focus:

- Promoting Transparency and Accountability: Ensuring that the local government's actions are transparent and accountable to the people.

- Leadership Development: Fostering leadership development to ensure capable and effective leaders.

- Community Engagement: Engaging with the community to understand their needs and concerns.

By prioritizing these areas, we aim to create a better future for Alimosho, leveraging her vast potential for growth and development.


Conclusively, we commend the Lagos State House of Assembly led by Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa for taking bold action and upholding the principles of accountability and transparency and we urge Hon. Jelili to honor the rule of law and stop the mockery of the local government. 

Also, our councilors should remember their vow of office to place the interest of the public above individuality. As progressive and productive Youths of Alimosho, we can no longer fold our hands and watch individuals to continuously bastardize and embarrass the local government which has ridiculously retrogress, downgrade, demoted Alimosho in all ramifications. This will be rejected going forward. Hence, acting chairman should sit up at this critical time.
