Momentum Builds Around New Alimosho Education Secretary as Dr. Aminat Ige Receives Broad-Based Endorsements Across Councils, Youths, Monarchs, and Lawmakers

Momentum continues to gather across Alimosho Federal Constituency following the appointment of Dr. (Mrs.) Aminat Olawunmi Ige as the new Education Secretary of the Alimosho Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) by the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB). Since her appointment, Dr. Ige has received overwhelming endorsements cutting across political leaders, council chairmen, traditional rulers, youth bodies, and other critical stakeholders—signaling widespread confidence in her leadership and a renewed optimism for basic education in Alimosho.

Formal Commencement of Duties Across LCDAs

In a move widely regarded as symbolic and strategic, Dr. Ige formally commenced her duties by paying courtesy visits and presenting her certificate of appointment to council chairmen across the local government areas and LCDAs that make up Alimosho.

At Igando-Ikotun LCDA, Dr. Ige presented her certificate of appointment to the Executive Chairman, Snr. Comr. Lasisi Ayinde Akinsanya, who described her emergence as well-deserved and a recognition of her long-standing dedication to educational advancement. He reaffirmed the council’s full support and expressed confidence in her ability to drive innovation, quality assurance, and academic excellence across public primary schools. Also present during the visit was the Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman, Comr. Ahmed Oloyede, among other top council officials.

Dr. Ige, a native of Akesan in Igando-Ikotun LCDA, holds BSc, MSc, and PhD degrees in Mathematics, and is widely regarded as an accomplished academic whose appointment aligns with ongoing reforms in Lagos State’s basic education sector.


She also paid a courtesy visit to the Egbe-Idimu LCDA, where she was warmly received by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Prince Idris Balogun (Oluomo Kafata). The chairman described her appointment as a testament to competence, dedication, and unwavering commitment to educational development, while expressing confidence in her capacity to deliver meaningful and lasting impact across Alimosho. 

Dr. Ige, in her remarks, emphasized collaboration and stakeholder engagement as central to her vision for repositioning the education sector.

At Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA, the Executive Chairman, Hon. (Dr.) Agbaje Lukmon Abiodun, welcomed the new Education Secretary and pledged the full support of the council toward the success of her tenure. 



He described her appointment as a major boost for youth development and nation-building, citing her passion for education and commitment to service. Dr. Ige, in response, assured of a productive partnership focused on educational growth and sustainable development.


Similarly, at Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Abiodun Jimoh Ishola Ejigbadero, received Dr. Ige and issued a statement underscoring shared values and commitment:

“Yesterday, I had the honour of receiving the newly appointed Education Secretary of the Alimosho Local Government Education Authority, Dr. Aminat Ige. Traditional institutions across Alimosho have also rallied behind the new Education Secretary. In a royal proclamation, His Royal Majesty, Oba Surakat Noah Olayiwola Akanni Adefimihan Abinupagun Madarikan II, the Onidimu of Idimu Land, congratulated Dr. Ige, describing her appointment as timely and well-suited to her passion and track record in education.

The monarch assured her of royal support and expressed confidence that her leadership would empower teachers, inspire young minds, and uplift communities across Alimosho.

Lawmakers Speak: Federal and State Endorsements

At the federal level, the Member of the House of Representatives for Alimosho Federal Constituency, Hon. Ganiyu Adele Ayuba, Esq., issued an official congratulatory statement, describing Dr. Ige’s appointment as purposeful and aligned with Lagos State’s development agenda.

Immediately following the federal lawmaker’s endorsement, the Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Alimosho Constituency II, Hon. Kehinde Olaide Joseph (KJ), also applauded the appointment:

Adding a strong youth voice to the growing endorsements, the Alimosho Youth Assembly, through its Speaker, Rt. Hon. Amb. Ibrahim Olawale Seriki, congratulated Dr. Aminat (The Queen of Isheri-Olofin Kingdom, Alimosho LGA, Lagos State) while also celebrating the throne, noting that Kabiyesi has consistently been a promoter of academic excellence at all levels.

The Alimosho Youth Assembly highlighted Queen Dr. Aminat’s academic pedigree and commended LASUBEB for appointing excellence to lead education in what is widely regarded as the most populated local government and federal constituency in Nigeria, with over 70 public schools and more than 1,000 teachers. The Youth Assembly assured the Education Secretary of full partnership and collaboration to deliver measurable progress and urged her to remain open to innovative and inclusive engagement that would place Alimosho at the top of Lagos State’s educational scorecard.

A New Dawn for Alimosho LGEA

As at the time of filing this report, the Chairperson of Mosan-Okunola LCDA, Hon. Mrs. Adunni was out of town, while the Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akin Johnson was unavailable but had released a congratulatory message celebrating the appointment of HRH Dr. Aminat Olawunmi Ige-Lawal Bello as outstanding and forward-looking.



Observers describe the broad-based acceptance—spanning political, traditional, professional, and youth constituencies—as a clear indication of an emerging era of coordinated development across all five LCDAs and the Alimosho Local Government.
